Staying true to the testosterone fueled network’s programming, SPIKE delivers a flurry of boobs and POW from the run up to the menu screen on. MANSWERS is billed as the BEST, BIGGEST, COOLEST and SEXIEST. It may not be all these things, but it is mildly entertaining. NOT RATED in the US but with a Canadian Home Video rating of 14A the content stays on the mild side. Bikinis and crude sexual references are the worst you are going to get here.

MOVIE

MANSWERS is a compilation of 25 of the most burning questions a fourteen year old boy has ever had, answered in 91 minutes. That of course means all of the burning questions involve beer, boobs and bestiality. If this range of topics is what you are interested in, this video is for you. Each question follows the same format:

1) A very excited announcer
2) Street interviews
3) Hypothesis
4) Facts
5) Expert Testimony
6) Conclusions

The research is not exhaustive, overly in-depth or scientific but it is fun. Most of the MANSWERS are backed by a supposedly scientific study or some sort of reference book. The info is presented in easily digestible chunks with fast cuts between scenes and fun graphics to keep the countdown moving along. The countdown goes as follows:

VIDEO

This DVD is in Full Screen format. The production quality was decent. Most of the reenactments were cheesy but fun. All clips seem to be taken directly from the TV show with limited or no additional editing.

SOUND

The sound is Dolby Digital. The announcer’s constant forced excitement can become trying after a while, especially when piped through a stereo.

EXTRAS

The main menu is simply a chapter list counting down the top 25 MANSWERS from season 1. No extras are included in the main menu, but there are BONUS manswers slipped in during the countdown bringing the grand total to 34.

BOTTOM LINE

This is a fun gift for your buddy (or ladies for the testosterone fueled man in your life). In general it is light hearted enjoyment. It’s strange that it is censored (black boxes and blurred nudity, no nipples, no curses beyond ASS). It’s worth a purchase in the bargain bin if you would like to relive their important lessons. Not to be taken too seriously.
